Arkansas State men’s basketball head coach Bryan Hodgson announced Thursday the addition of transfer guard Cody Head to the 2024-25 roster.
Head, who spent his freshman season at Lipscomb, will have three years of eligibility remaining. He played in all 32 games in 2023-24 (10 starts) and helped the Bisons go 20-12 and finish third in the ASUN. The ASUN All-Freshman Team pick averaged 8.1 points per contest, including 9.9 per outing in league play.
“We are extremely excited to announce the addition of Cody to our roster,” Hodgson said. “Cody had a phenomenal first year of college basketball, and will add some much-needed depth to our backcourt. Cody's physicality and athleticism make him one of the best two-way combo guards in the transfer portal! We cannot wait to get him on campus!”
The Cleveland, Ohio, native averaged 18.6 minutes per game for the Bisons and shot 53.2 percent from the field, including 35.2 percent from 3-point range. He also was an 84.3-percent foul shooter and grabbed 2.5 rebounds per game. In ASUN play, Head shot 52.2 percent from the field and 88.2 percent at the charity stripe.
Head scored a career-high 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting on February 24 at Austin Peay, as well as 20 against Central Arkansas – two of 13 double-digit scoring performances in his true-freshman campaign.
In high school, Head was named Team MVP as a senior at Lutheran East High School, helping the Falcons win the 2023 OHSAA Division 3 state title.
