Arkansas State head coach Hugh Freeze and his staff have taken the college football world by storm, and they are seeing success in every facet imaginable, to include on the recruiting trail.
That is evident as the Red Wolves landed their 14th commitment early Monday evening as Dallas, TX three-star wide receiver Braelon Roberts gave assistant head coach Tom Allen his verbal pledge.
Roberts (6-5, 170) selected the Red Wolves over Colorado State, Louisiana-Monroe, Utah State, and UTEP. He gave RedWolfReport.com his thoughts on his commitment.
"I'm just really excited to be committed," said Roberts. "I was offered just moments after the staff watched my film. Coach Allen called and extended the offer, so I took a visit to Jonesboro and I felt like the staff is loyal and it is a school I can trust. I just felt like I could fit in there."
Roberts said one thing that sold him on Arkansas State is the coaching staff.
"I just love Coach Freeze," said Roberts. "He is a great guy, and his entire staff just makes you feel at home. They have what it takes to get you pumped up and to always play hard and give your best."
The Red Wolves offensive philosophy is another reason given by Roberts for his commitment.
"Their offense is just amazing," he said. "I really like how their quarterback runs the offense, and I hope to get to be able to play on the field with him next year. I really like that this offense can keep a defense honest. It is strong enough to put an emphasis on running the ball, but they pass the ball a lot at the same time. I really like that."
Roberts has caught 30 passes for 530 yards and four touchdowns this season, and his team will play in the Texas high school playoffs this year.
