Arkansas State battled to a 103-60 victory over Lane College, making 18 three-pointers during the game Friday night inside of First National Bank Arena.
The Red Wolves improved their record to 4-1, remaining undefeated at home with a 4-0 record. They had a shooting percentage of 48.7, converting 38 out of 78 attempts. The team also recorded a season-high of 27 assists on those 38 made baskets and took 48 attempts from beyond the arc.
Winning the rebounding battle 51-37, Arkansas State grabbed 19 offensive rebounds, marking the third consecutive game with 19 or more offensive boards.
Justin Johnson led with a career-high 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting, also contributing eight rebounds and five assists. He became the first Arkansas State freshman since Brandon Reed in 2010 to achieve 20-plus points, 5-plus rebounds, and 5-plus assists in a single game.
Cody Head recorded a season-high nine points, along with personal bests in rebounds (6) and assists (8).
Avery Felts scored a season-high 15 points, making five of six three-point attempts, while Joseph Pinion also scored 15 points off the bench, adding a career-high eight rebounds.The Red Wolves took control after a three-pointer by Julien sparked a 15-2 run, leading to a 31-10 advantage with 10:57 remaining in the first half. Their lead expanded to as much as 33 by halftime, with a score of 54-24.
In the second half, their lead increased to 41 points with consecutive scores by Johnson, and Pinion extended the lead to 43 points with just over 90 seconds remaining.Arkansas State will next play on Friday, November 29, in the Baha Mar Nassau Championship in the Bahamas, starting with a game against Indiana State at 3:30 p.m. CT.
