Red Wolves sign Eaton

Jonesboro High School standout Marquis Eaton signed his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday to join the Arkansas State men’s basketball program, head coach Grant McCasland announced today.

“From the moment we got the job here, Marquis was a high priority for us,” said McCasland. “He has a great feel for the game and he will continue to get better under coach Swift at Jonesboro. In terms of recruiting, you have to try and take care of your own backyard and we couldn’t be happier we were able to do that with Marquis and his family. They are great people and we have high expectations on how great Marquis can be.”

Eaton is set to begin his second season at Jonesboro High School this winter. Last season, he helped the Hurricane to a 24-3 record and averaged 10 points, 4.5 assists and two steals. He earned all-state honors and the Hurricane advanced to the Class 6A state semifinals. Prior to joining Jonesboro High for his junior season, Eaton was an all-state selection at Helena-West Helena Central. Over the summer, Eaton averaged 17 points and six assists with the Arkansas Athletes Outreach (AAO) team.

Eaton joins forward Mark Tikhonenko as signees for A-State men’s basketball in the early signing period.
