The Arkansas State Red Wolves achieved bowl eligibility for the second straight season with a 27-20 victory over Georgia State at CenterParc Stadium.
The Red Wolves rushed for 261 yards and had a strong defensive performance, including seven tackles for loss and two interceptions.
Jaylen Raynor led the ground game with 114 yards, becoming the first A-State quarterback since 2017 to rush for over 100 yards. Ja’Quez Cross and Zak Wallace also contributed significantly, with Wallace scoring two touchdowns.
Raynor completed 10-of-17 passes for 97 yards.
Defensively, Websley Etienne and Bryan Whitehead stood out, with Whitehead recording 3.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. Justin Parks and Trevian Thomas each had an interception, with Thomas' late-game pick helping to secure the win.
Georgia State initially took the lead with a touchdown pass from Zach Gibson to Ted Hurst, who finished with 173 receiving yards. The Panthers threw for 346 yards as a team.
Arkansas State responded with a touchdown by Wallace and later took the lead with his second score. Christian Veilleux tied the game for Georgia State with a pass to Michel Dukes.
Clune Van Andel's 44-yard field goal - his 15th straight to tie Josh Arauco’s program record for consecutive made field goals – to put A-State ahead entering the fourth quarter.
After a punt return by Courtney Jackson, Cross scored to extend the lead. Georgia State's Braeden McAlister and Liam Rickman each kicked a field goal, but Van Andel's record-breaking 52-yard field goal ensured the win.
Arkansas State will return home for its final two regular-season games, starting with a matchup against ULM on Nov. 23.
