Arkansas State senior punt returner Courtney Jackson has been named the Sun Belt Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Jackson helped spark A-State to a second-half comeback with a 77-yard punt return touchdown as the Red Wolves erased a 17-7 halftime deficit in a 28-24 win over Tulsa. It is the first 2-0 start for A-State since 2008. Jackson’s 77-yard punt return was the longest for an A-State player since Kevin Jones had an 89-yard return for a score against Memphis in 2007. It was Jackson’s third career punt return for a touchdown, second with A-State and second over his last four games dating back to 2023.
A-State (2-0) visits No. 17/16 Michigan (1-1) Saturday on the Big Ten Network with kickoff set for 11:00 a.m. The Red Wolves return to Centennial Bank Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 5, for Homecoming against South Alabama with kickoff at 6:00 p.m.
