Cody Livingston named Arkansas State pitching coach

Arkansas State baseball head coach Mike Silva announced Wednesday the addition of veteran coach Cody Livingston to the Red Wolves’ staff.

Livingston spent three years working with pitchers at Nicholls, playing a significant role during their conference championship runs in 2023 and 2024. Under his leadership, the Colonels’ pitching staff ranked inside the top-100 nationally in most statistical categories last season. The team ranked fifth in the nation for shutouts (6), 55th in hits allowed per nine innings (8.99), 70th in WHIP (1.49), 78th in strikeouts per nine innings (9.0), and 74th in earned run average (5.23).

Livingston also produced six all-conference selections and one Southland Conference freshman of the year during his time in Thibodaux.

“I am extremely honored to be a part of the Arkansas State family. I am grateful to Mike Silva for trusting me with this incredible opportunity,” Livingston said. “I am excited to be back in the state of Arkansas and I look forward to getting started working with our staff and players to help further the success of Arkansas State baseball.”

After four years as a pitcher at Southern Miss, Livingston joined the Little Rock coaching staff as an assistant in 2018. The Trojans earned their first postseason victory in eight years during his first season and won 29 games while finishing second in the Sun Belt one year later.

He became an assistant at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 2020, coaching five All-MACCC selections and one All-NJCAA selection over two seasons with the program.

“I am excited to welcome Cody and his wife, Kelsea, to our family,” Silva said. “He has been with me from day one at Nicholls, playing an important role in building the program. I know he will do an outstanding job developing our pitchers and I can’t wait to continue coaching with him in the future!”
