Chad Voytik talks fall camp and more

Arkansas State has had quite the quarterback battle going on during fall camp between Chad Voytik, who transferred in from Pitt, and JUCO quarterback Justice Hansen.

Both have done solid so far, and head coach Blake Anderson stated Saturday that neither one has separated himself from the other, and that there is the possibility of using a two-quarterback system this season.

Voytik was impressive in Saturday’s scrimmage, and spoke with RedWolfReport.com following his performance to talk about his progress and more.

“We’ve had some ups and downs, I think, but here recently it’s been a constant climb,” said Voytik. “We’ve been doing well, and it felt good to come out here and have realistic football. I had a great time. The biggest thing is we were playing again, and it was fun, and I think we executed pretty well.”

Voytik gave his thoughts on how he felt he performed during the scrimmage.

“I think I did pretty well,” he said. “I protected the football, didn’t have any turnovers, and we scored a few times. So as long as we keep moving the chains and scoring points, that is all we need to do.”

He also noted a few things he feels he needs to work on before the season.

“I think still getting adjusted to the tempo of the offense, getting lined up quick, and pushing the guys to get to the ball quickly,” said Voytik. “I’d say that is the biggest thing because I’m used to after the play getting into the huddle and having time to kind of relax and talk to guys, but I don’t have that now.”

He spoke about his goals he’d like to reach before the season begins as well.

“Obviously I’m here trying to fight for a spot, so that’s my goal right now,” said Voytik. “Then if that happens, we will take it each game from there.”
